Zoology

The Department of Zoology was established on 15th June, 1961 and offers Zoology as an optional subject at UG level. Post Graduate department was started on 13th July 1993. The Zoology department has recognized Research Center since 27th December, 1980. Department has Eight Research Projects to its credit (One Major & Seven Minor). Till to date 18 research students received Ph. D. degree and 15 students are working. Department has developed catfish indoor hatcheries. Department has rich museum with representative species from various non-chordate & chordate groups and organizes its exhibition for non-zoology people to widen their knowledge dimensions about animal life. Department runs various social activities like, Mosquito Eradication Programme, Vermicomposting  Unit, Blood Group Detection and Blood Pressure Measurement Camps. Department provides knowledge to Young Scientists, preparing for Bal Vaigyanik Competition. Department has MoUs with various reputed institutions. Department regularly organizes conference and workshop on current topic. Department regularly organizes various co-curricular activities for students such as guest lecture, seminar, excursion tour, field visit, wall poster to update their knowledge.
